Preparing for Mixed Wrestling
If you are brand knew to mixed wrestling, there are a number of things you can do to make yourself more effective and
competetive in your sessions. Some women are simply naturals or they have been training heavily with weights and are quite
accomplished. But most ladies contemplating getting into session wrestling could benefit from some preparation.
From getting into better shape and training, you will benefit beyond sessions as any physical regimine will make you feel great and prolong your life.
fitness
Achieving a good level of fitness is important for everybody. Popular methods involve running, aerobics and strength training.
The hardest part is getting started but once you have established a good training regimine, your body will crave it and you will
find yourself looking forward to your workouts. Cross training that involves aerobics and strength training in perhaps the most
beneficial workout routine for most people.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
This is perhaps the most popular form of martial art for the session wrestler. Jui-Jitsu incoporates locks, grappling, chokes and escapes. It
is truly an effective martial art. Different from styles such as Karate, Jiu-Jitsu is one in which you can begin to apply what you have learned
early on. Some of the most effective session wrestlers are accomplished Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. There are many excellent shcools throughout the
country and if you are in a large city, it is certain there is one near you.
Judo
Judo is similarly good for the beginning session wrestler. While harder to master the basics than Jiu-Jitsu, master of techniques such as
take-downs, locks, chokes and pins will make you quite effective at controlling your opponent in a mixed wrestling match. Similar to jiu-jitsu,
there are numerous schools that teach judo.
Boxing
Boxing will absolutely get you in great shape. While it doesn't teach the grappling techniques often employed in mixed wrestling, it will get you
used to engaging people physically. In addition, becoming effective at boxing is great for overall self-defense.
Women's self defence
There are many self defence classes designed for women and some of these may be useful. It is important to find one that places emphasis on grappling techniques, as many
do. Some ladies prefer a class such as this when getting started as you are practicing against other women. Many such classes are taught by male martial arts
instructors with whom you will employ techniques as you learn them.
No matter what you select as a foundation for training, a good regimine will do much for, both in terms of providing intense sessions and increasing your over all
well being.
